Welcome to the web home of Patrick Whelan.

Being the son of an Air Force lifer I have lived in many places.

I started my life in Northern California. When I was less than a month old we moved to Southern California. Then five months later we moved to Japan. While in Japan we lived in Kyoto and Yokohama. Don't ask me which was first or when, as I was a little too young to remember. :)

When I was two we moved back to Northern California, then to Southern California again. Here we got to stay for six whole years, although not in the same house.

When I was eight we moved to Gloucestershire in the United Kingdom. For the first two years we lived in a nice little house in a very small village called Ablington. After that we move to brand new housing on the base.

Next, just for a dose of culture shock, we moved to Kansas. There we stayed for four long years, again for the first two years in a small town called Haysville, then on to base housing again.

With only one more year until I graduated from High School, we moved back to California, again moving every two years. Here I stayed until the Army decided they needed me (it was 1968, a very busy year in the U.S.) After spending 9 months in training, again in two locations, they packed me off to South Korea. South Korea was a very nice place and I must say that if I had to spend 2+ years in the Army during the Vietnam War, South Korea was the place to spend it. Since I was only here two years I actually stayed in the same place.

After returning from Korea, I took up residence in Northern California, specifically San Jose. After getting married for the first time we moved to Santa Clara, then one years later we moved to San Jose, from there to Campbell, then Sunnyvale. Finally we decided to move out of Silicon Valley to Sacramento (a very hot place). Then to continue the trend we moved to Los Angeles. Specifically El Segundo, then La Mirada, two places, the Corona and Chino Hills. The order could be wrong as I don't remember exactly. This ended our stay in California.

After moving to Phoenix, ...
